In 2010 when we opened our doors, “sustainable luxury” was still considered a contradiction by much of the hospitality industry. We disagreed. We believed the most authentic luxury is made possible by — and contributes to — the health of the natural environment that makes it exceptional.
The Journey to Carbon Neutral
By 2012 we had completed our first solar installation covering 60% of daytime energy needs. By 2014 we added battery storage and expanded the array. By early 2015 — five years ahead of many industry sustainability targets — we achieved 100% solar coverage for all electrical operations.
Today our programme encompasses: zero single-use plastics, 95% local ingredient sourcing, greywater recycling, full kitchen composting, and a community programme that has funded three local school renovations.
